The PFCA is pleased to report the results of field trials conducted in 2023. Partnering with the University of the Fraser Valley’s (UFV) Agriculture Technology Department, forage corn hybrid trials were conducted in Abbotsford and Agassiz in 2023. The protocol of the 2023 trials followed those used in previous work (1999 to 2017) and include replicated trials at both Abbotsford (average CHU: 2381) and Agassiz (average CHU: 2433) in south-coastal BC. New this year, the PFCA has listened to feedback from industry, and has incorporated qualitative testing. The tables now report crude protein, fibre, starch, and other values utilizing the Milk 2006 quality index. Field work was conducted by Dr. Renee Prasad and UFV Agriculture students.
