After a 4-year hiatus, the Pacific Field Corn Association (PFCA) is pleased to report the results of field trials conducted in 2022. The PFCA partnered with the University of the Fraser Valley’s (UFV) Agriculture Technology Department to conduct forage corn hybrid trials in Abbotsford and Agassiz in 2022. The protocol of the 2022 trials followed those used in previous work (1999 to 2017) and include replicated trials at both Abbotsford (CHU: 2550) or Agassiz (CHU: 2900) in south-coastal BC. Field work was conducted by Dr. Renee Prasad and UFV Agriculture students.
Up until March 31, 2023 the PFCA is accepting applications for the 2023 Corn Hybrid Variety Trial in the Fraser Valley. New this year, the PFCA is incorporating qualitative testing. This includes fibre, starch, and other values utilizing the Milk 2006 quality index. This will go hand in hand with the standard testing the PFCA has utilized for years. The 2023 Corn Hybrid Variety Trials Report is scheduled to be released in early December.
