Growing Melons

melons

This picture is last years harvest in mid September during the Hot spell. The four on the right are Carolina Cross. The big one is just about 40 lbs.  The rest (including the one that is cut open) of the watermelon are Dixie Lee that I ordered seeds out of the U.S. There is no variety on earth that produces a more red watermelon.  The ones in front are your typical Open Pollinated Honeydew (100 days to maturity).  I direct seeded them as well and managed to beautifully ripen over 20 of them. ~ Robert, Chilliwack, BC
